What to Expect in Our Sessions
Hi! My name is Anna Michael, and I am sincerely looking forward to helping you be successful in this challenging course. Microbiology isn’t a subject many of us naturally just “get”. As multicellular organisms, we humans have spent our entire lives learning about our world on the macro scale. So when it comes to diving into the micro world, it makes sense that our brains have a harder time “placing” that new information into a context we understand. But don't worry -- I'm here to help! As your tutor, I am committed to equipping you with the tools to confidently learn and tackle even the most challenging material. Here's how: -- We'll start each session compiling a list of any big questions you have or any topics that tripped you up while studying. -- Then we'll address the topics based on time sensitivity (upcoming quiz, etc.) and flow of ideas. Topics in biology are always interconnected, so we'll walk through the material in a way that builds those connections in your brain, sometimes using mind maps or other learning exercises. -- I'll ask questions throughout the explanations to help solidify the big ideas and ensure we don't move on before you feel ready. -- Finally, with any remaining time, we'll review topics and/or anticipate topics that are likely to be on exams and quizzes. See you soon!
