Meet Your Tutor

Hi! My name is Anna Michael, and I am sincerely looking forward to working with you and helping you be successful in this challenging course.

Microbiology isn’t a subject many of us naturally just “get”. As macro, multicellular organisms, we humans have spent our entire lives learning about our world on the macro scale. So when it comes to diving into the micro world, it makes sense that our brains have a harder time “placing” that new information into its current understanding of how the world works. This disconnect can be quite jarring, especially for students who are used to school feeling effortless, but don’t worry - I’m here to help!

As your tutor, I am committed to equipping you with the tools you need to feel confident in your ability to learn and tackle even the most challenging material, both in this class and beyond. My approach is holistic and student-centered: I meet you exactly where you are in your learning journey, identifying and filling knowledge gaps, designing study plans that fit into your busy life, and drawing on your own experiences to help make even the most complex topics click.

Each semester brings fresh updates and improvements to the resources I offer, all shaped by real feedback from students like you. I’m always refining and expanding the toolkit to make your learning experience smoother and more effective. So if you're here in Spring '26, you're getting two freshly redesigned support levels to fit your needs.

Whichever option you choose, everything here is designed to help you spend less time figuring out how to study, and more time actually learning. So jump in, explore the resources, and let's make this your most successful semester yet.

“Anna was instrumental in my success in microbiology. She has a gift for breaking down complicated material in a way that is accessible to students. Her practice quizzes and exams were challenging and her detailed feedback tested my understanding so I could work out areas that were unclear to me. I feel so fortunate to have had her patience and passion for microbiology as a resource this semester.”

Angie P - Sierra College Student - Fall '23

“I really enjoyed and appreciated tutoring hours with Anna. She makes topics that seem foreign at times relatable to life and is great with drawing connections.”

Hannah M - Sierra College Student - Spring '23

“I started tutoring with Anna after not receiving my ideal score from the first exam. For the rest of the semester I did group tutoring with Anna and a friend from class. She was extremely helpful and was willing to go over and simplify anything we were unsure about. I always felt confident going into the exam after sessions with her. I was able to end the class with an A and Anna was definitely a BIG help.”

Emma H - Sierra College Student - Spring '24

“I came into my Microbiology course with a lot of fear and overwhelm, but working with Anna truly felt like the lifeline I needed. Her resources make the most challenging topics feel approachable and memorable, and my in-person sessions with her were invaluable to my ability to actually understandable this material. If you're a healthcare major, you will not regret this investment, I promise!”

Mia P - Sierra College Student - Spring '24

“I cannot recommend Anna highly enough—she has truly been a lifesaver for me in my microbiology class. Her ability to break down complex scientific concepts into digestible, bite-sized pieces is remarkable. Anna goes beyond traditional tutoring by tailoring her explanations to match how your brain works, making the material not only accessible but engaging. Her creative use of notes and drawings (which are both informative and adorable) adds an extra layer of clarity and memorability. Anna brings together a brilliant scientific mind with a warm, personable approach. Her communication skills are exceptional, especially in a subject that can often feel intimidating. She makes even the most challenging material approachable and understandable, all while maintaining a friendly and supportive demeanor. If you are considering Anna as a private science tutor, my advice is simple: do it. Don’t wait until you're struggling at the end of the semester—give yourself the gift of learning with ease and confidence from the start. Working with Anna has been one of the best academic decisions I’ve made. 12/10 recommend!”

Molly R - Sierra College Student - Spring '25

“If you are thinking about enrolling in tutoring for microbiology, stop thinking and start doing it! As someone who has never enrolled in tutoring, I did not know what to expect, but Anna was an amazing tutor for this challenging class. I enrolled with Anna at the start of the semester, after realizing I knew I would not be able to pass this class with my regular study methods, and I worked with her all the way until the very end of the class. Anna walked me through many things I was not understanding fully, taught me new study methods, and gave me amazing exam preparation and taking tips that helped extremely with every quiz and exam. Not only was I able to retain information better, but I was also able to take every exam with full confidence knowing I would do well in them. I would not have been able to pass this class without taking the step to work with Anna.”
